Your Health
HOW MUCH IS YOUR HEALTH WORTH?
If you could sell your health, what kind of price tag would you attach to it? Hopefully your answer is, "No amount of money!" Next to your soul, we can't think of anything you own of greater value. Of this we are sure. And once you lose your health, you would spend every dime you've ever made trying to get it back. Most people think that health means being disease free. Well, at IEM we see things a little differently. You may be disease free now, but if your lifestyle is unhealthy, then you are unhealthy. If you feel your health has been eroding, we would like to educate you on how to restore your most precious commodity. We can help to identify areas that you can change to begin moving back toward a healthy lifestyle. At IEM, we want you to take charge of your health and focus on the areas you do have control over. By understanding which foods to eat, which ones to avoid, and how to properly combine those foods for optimal health, you can feel in control once again. If you are battling a disease, our clinicians want you to understand that you weren't born with it, nor did it appear overnight; rather, most disease is a result of environmental and/or lifestyle decisions and the constant exposure or onslaught of an offending agent. There is a domino effect whereby small sub-clinical deficiencies could ultimately one day manifest into disease. For example, drinking alcohol to excess depletes vitamins and minerals that protect the body. As years go by and depletion continues, the liver and other vital organs may lack the healing agents to repair the damage caused by the alcohol. In a healthy state, the body does an excellent job healing itself: if you get cut, the body immediately goes to work to begin healing it. We want to show you how to enhance the body’s natural defenses by doing what we can to offset the disease state. In addition, we will work closely with your medical team to provide the most cohesive program possible. What we understand about the disease state: ◾ The body works to stay healthy and in a state of homeostasis; ◾ The body goes into an alarm state when exposed to a environmental or dietary toxin; ◾ The body responds to the toxin by sending out key chemicals and reactions to resist the offending agent; ◾ The body reaches a point of exhaustion and can no longer defend itself against the offending agent. Consequently, the disease state sets in and overtakes your health. We need to identify and remove the offending agent or causes of your health problem. Let's suppose you are allergic to tomatoes and every time you ate something that contained tomatoes you had a reaction. We wouldn't recommend getting a corticosteroid shot as is typical in many medical settings; rather, we would recommend that you quit eating tomatoes. The cure lies in knowing that the tomatoes are the offending cause of your ailment and so removing them from the diet; the cure does not lie in trying to treat the symptoms. The role of our clinicians is to educate and motivate you to assume a more personal responsibility for your health. This means encouraging you to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle and eating program. It's up to you to do the right things that will allow your body to move out of exhaustion and back into health. |
