IEM Phone Consultations
IEM offers phone consultations for long distance clients. An Initial Consultation is one hour and your fee includes a free 30 minute follow-up consultation two weeks later.
During your initial consultation, we will discuss:
Your goals
Your medical history
Your lifestyle
Your current food choices
Your activity level. Based upon the information that you give to us, we will prepare an eating program designed to help you reach your goals. (Digital pictures and body composition measurements done by a trained professional are helpful but not required.)
After the interview portion of the consultation, your nutritionist will cover how to avoid the dieter's mentality which so often sets you up to fail from the beginning. You will be taught:

about deceptive food labeling

how to easily determine the percentage of calories from fat in your food choices

how to make better bad choices when faced with cravings or high risk situations.
You will receive the following by mail a few days later:
1. Your customized eating program

3. Exercise recommendations
4. List of healthy carbohydrate choices
5. Low fat food finder
6. Recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and mini meals
7. Dining Out Guide
8. Sample shopping list
9. Healthy snack ideas
10. List of healthy beverage choices
11. Ways to be creative with your foods and avoid being brain locked
12. The nutritional breakdown and percentage of calories from fat of most meats, poultry and seafood items
At your follow-up consultation two weeks later, we will discuss sugars, alcohol and processed carbohydrates. We will also explain the physiological response to these foods and how they impact your ability to reach your goals.
We will then teach you how to convert grams to teaspoons so that you will better understand the nutrition label and be a more educated consumer. Finally, we will discuss how your eating plan has been working for you up until that point.
If you fax an updated body composition to us prior to the session, we can see how your body is responding to the plan as well as learn from you how it is fitting into your lifestyle. Our goal is to teach you how to eat in a healthy way and not feel deprived so that your new way of eating can become a lifestyle and not just a diet.
